Well, it happened again. Lauren, our sweet little 19 month old baby, had another seizure on Tuesday. I will admitt that this is probably the scariest thing that I have every gone through. I had feeling so powerless and holding her while her body convuses. We took her to the pediatrition and because there was no fever before or after the seizure they are sending her to the pediatric neurologist on May 12. We are praying that everything is ok and that we will find out why shes having the seizures. I'll try and update the blog on everyone else soon.

I don't know if you even know me...we were in the same ward in Rexburg, but we moved in September 2006...I happened upon your blog from Jenny Hammock's link, and felt impressed to leave a comment. Our son Noah, who is 4 started having seizures at 8 months. We spent about 2 weeks in July 06 {he was 18 months about} in the hospital. We saw doctor after doctor, and finally he was diagnosed with Generalized Epilepsy, which really just means he has epilepsy, with no real known cause, hence the "generalized" title. But, he was put on Tegretol, and the Phenobarbital, and now is on Lamictal. I totally know what you mean by feeling so helpless holding your little girl as she convulses, it is the worst thing, and doesn't ever get better! But I just wanted you to know that the medication is a good thing. It's the closest thing to a "normal" seizure free life that we can give him. But, after all three medicines, Lamictal has worked the best for us. It has the least side effects, if you do have to go the medication route, I would strongly recommend it. I'm sorry for such a long comment...I just wanted to let you know of our experience. There are so many more families out there with the same experiences...more than I could have even imagined! Good luck with the pediatric neuro. {a heads up, most neurologists are a little awkward! ;-)}
